The Red Diamonds

Chapter Eighteen

Back

"Bored, bored, bored, Lord, I'm bored." Kirby mumbled, sitting on his bed in his room. The third diamond had not been found yet and Yaron still was loose. He wanted to kill that atheist, but he didn't know where he was. He held the two diamonds in his hands and looked at them. Somehow, it seemed as if they were speaking to him, but he shrugged the feeling off. Diamonds can't talk. That's impossible. He thought. But they were blessed by an angel. After looking at them for a minute, he said, "Diamonds, what are you saying to me? Please, tell me." Sleep... Sleep? He kept on looking at the diamonds. He set them on the table beside him and lied on his bed. He pulled the covers over himself and turned the lights off. He had to sleep. He closed his eyes and tried to keep them close. After an hour of shifting around, he finally lay still and fell asleep. In his dreams, he was taken to two places: one of them was a giant city planet and another was a colorful looking planet. Then, Yaron showed up. The toad grabbed his sword and ran Kirby through.

"Aah!" He noticed he was back in his room. It was only a dream, but at the same time it wasn't. "I can't go alone to the city planet. Yaron is there." He jumped out of his bed and ran out of his room to the library. He began typing on the computer there. The computer pulled up a city planet. "That's it." He continued to type and look up more information. "Hiron? Why has he fled there?" Somehow he knew Yaron was there. The captain walked away from the computer and looked out of the window. "Yaron, I hope you're ready, because I'm coming for you." In the morning, the day started like any other, except the pallas weren't working today. Kirby decided to have a meeting with them. "Last night, I had a dream. It told me the location of Yaron and I think that's where we should go." Winby just scoffed. "A dream? All a dream is just some screwed up memories." Meta Knight sighed. "I must agree with Winby on this one." "You of all people should know about dreams, Meta Knight. Remember the Fountain of Dreams? Remember that the diamonds were once blessed by an angel?"

"But the Fountain of Dreams was located on Pop Star until it was destroyed." Meta Knight said. "Then it must be the diamonds. They...spoke to me last night. It may sound crazy and insane, but they did. They told me to sleep and I would get my answers. So I did. We must go to Horin and kill Yaron." They all thought he was going insane, but two people: Kiibii and Ruuby. "I believe you, Kirby." Ruuby said. "I heard legends of the Fountain of Dreams. It sent dreams to the citizens of Pop Star everytime you slept. Before your planet was destroyed. And the diamonds seem to have a life of their own. I remember when I saw that one on Glace. It seemed to speak to me, saying a name I don't know." Kirby nodded and waited for any responses. None. "I'm going. No matter what and if you guys want to stop me, then try and do it." Ruuby got up from her seat. "I won't stop you, because I'm going. I'm tired of just sitting here while you and Kiibii get all of the action."

Kiibii got up from her seat, signaling she wanted to go too. The rest stayed in their seats. "Meta Knight, atleast go to the system where Horin is located. Then I could drive the other two with me to the planet and find where the other diamond is." Meta Knight though about this for a minuted and nodded. "Better yet, why don't I just drop you off with a lift?" Kirby and the other two agreed by this and prepared for the trip to Horin. Unlike previous missions, they each had packed $100 in cash just in case. They packed all that they would need and waited an hour before they felt the ship descending. The three friends stepped up to the lift and prepared to descend. Then the lift started to go down and it soon landed on the concrete ground of Horin. They had landed in an alley. Kirby pulled out a device and began scanning for the diamond. It soon went off as it detected the diamond fifty miles away. "Alright, I want you two to go out into the street and begin walking to my left. I'll stay in the alleys and keep watch."

The two girls looked at each with some slight confusion. "You'll see." He said, winking. The two walked in the crowded streets and looked back. Kirby was nowhere to be found. They shrugged and walked through traffic. They often got a few quick glares, but they knew to ignore them. They weren't worth it. After walking an hour through seemingly endless traffic, they felt a sharp tug on their arms. "Geddup!" An awful smelling poppy said. "No! Get away, you skunk!" Ruuby retorted. They both were foolishly underestimating this one. He grabbed the two pallas and threw them into an alley. There they saw three other poppys. "Ahright, ya two! Weh ah yah mastas! Unlike aneh otha slavas ya'll had bafor, weh will show ya no mercee!" Kiibii got up and said, "Why don't you speak proper English for once so we can understand you, moron!" The gangsters snickered, but were quickly silenced with a quick signal of his hand. "Your insults are so pathetic. Luckily, you two weren't trained to insult, only to fight."

The gang leader walked up to them casually and inspected them. "I see Kirby trained you two well." They both gasped with surprise. "How do you know Kirby? How do you we were trained by him?" "Because I told them." They looked up and, on a window sill above them, saw Kirby standing above them. He leaped down and landed in front of the two. "Well, well, well. What do we have here, boys? A pink palla. These are really rare, especially one that can inhale and copy. Did you used to fly?" Kirby scoffed. "Used to. Until I got my own personal warpstar in the mirror world." "Ah," The leader said, "It's been a long time, Kirby. Why haven't you contacted me?" Kirby smiled. "All the more to keep a friend waiting." The two shooked hands and began talking about any adventures they had, leaving the two female pallas confused. "Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait! You two know each other, like friend-wise?" Ruuby asked. The gang leader laughed, heartily.

"Yep! Sorry for the scare, yellow one. I didn't mean to make you yelp." Kiibii looked surprised. "I wasn't scared, just surprised." The leader nodded and held out his hand. "My name's Vejeb. What's your's?" Kiibii hestiantly took his hand. "Kiibii." They shook hands as Vejeb said, "Ah. Lovely name. And you are?" Ruuby shook his hand harder than he expected. "Ruuby." "Firm grip. Love that in a soldier. Well, Kirby. Do you remember what you told me you'll do if I help you find that red diamond?" Kirby nodded. "Yeah, kick some butt for you." Vejeb laughed and patted Kirby's back. "That's the Kirby I know! Now, the last time I saw those murderers was at the Blue Fish Bar." "Odd, they usually go to the Pirate's Pub." "It went out of business months ago." They began setting out a plan to attack the gang of murderers.
