It was evening when they began packing. Kirby told them to pack the essentials: A sleeping bag, pillow, two water bottles, food, radio, flashlight, pocket knife, and lighter. They each carried the supplies in a backpack. Handing them each a jacket, he warned them, "This is a mission. This red diamond is at the peak of the mountain. Stay close! We each have been given maps to the caves. Ration your own food carefully. This is not a vacation nor a game." The pallas nodded their heads. They were unsure on what may lie ahead. They boarded the hanger lift and prepared for the cold. When the door opened, they instantly felt numb. It was so cold. The only two they didn't feel cold were Kirby and Meta Knight. They were used to this. They finally reached the snow, but it didn't feel as bitterly cold as the air. Winby groaned, "Why couldn't they just drop us off at the top?" Meta Knight shook his head. "Because the wind is rougher up there and we may fly off the lift. Now come on. We have a whole day ahead of us."
They began climbing the mountain side. Many hours later, it began to get dark. They stopped in a cave and lit a fire (using the wood Meta Knight chopped down with his sword). They each ate a small ration of food and water and set up their sleeping bags and pillows. They each felt warm as it began to darken even more outside. No one felt like talking. In the morning, the began to walk up the mountain when Rorby tripped on a rock, sending him sliding downwards. Meta Knight nimbly jumped high in the air and landed in front of him. He stopped him before he could slide down any further. He threw him back up the mountain yelling, "Catch!" Kirby caught the falling Rorby and set him down on his feet. Meta Knight landed beside them. "Let's keep going." They continued upwards. The blizzard became worse. It was hard to see where everything around them was. Kiibii was in the back of the group helping Kirby make sure no one else would trip and fall. Ironicly, Kirby tripped and fell. Kiibii saw this and ran after Kirby.
Kiibii finally caught up to him and grabbed him. He stopped and got up. That's when the trouble started. Meta Knight and the rest of the pallas were no where to be found. They both started to yell for them, but the blizzard was too loud. The began to climb upwards as the night rolled by. They stopped into a cave when they couldn't go on anymore. Since they didn't have a sword, they didn't have any wood to make a fire. Then Kiibii suggested a helpful idea, "What about your radio?" Kirby smiled. "Oh, that's right!" He reached in his backpack and grabbed his radio. He pressed the call button and pressed the message button down, "Alert! This is Kirby and Kiibii. We have seperated from the others. We need help! Copy!" He waited for a few seconds and got a reply, "10-1. I repeat, 10-1!" Kirby shouted in the radio, "Alert! This is Kirby and Kiibii! We have seperated from the others! Do you copy?!" A reply came, "10-25, Meta Knight?" Kirby pressed the button again, "Negative!" Another reply came, "We can't find your location. We will send-" They lost contact.
"Mothership! Mothership! Please respond!" No response. "Crap." He looked over and saw that Kiibii was shivering. "Kiibii! Oh no, here's my blanket." He handed her his blanket (he stowed one away just in case) but she refused. "You keep it." But Kirby was stubborn. He spread the blanket on her. "You need it more than me. Besides, either way there's only one way we can survive the night." She looked at him. "What?" "As much as this may seem...uh, odd, I think, we're gonna need to cuddle up." He looked nervous. "Just to survive." Kiibii scoffed. "What are you so nervous about? This is only to survive." She waited until Kirby was in his sleeping bag, then she got close to him and embraced him. Kirby wasn't used to this. He, however, embraced back soon enough and they both had a warm night. But not from the body heat. In the morning, Kiibii awoke to hear Kirby snoring. I'm so glad he isn't drooling. She still felt warm, but wanted to get Kirby off of her.
"Kirby. Kirby. Kirby!" He awoke with a snort, "Do wha?" "Kirby, do mind if I got up?" Kiibii asked. "No, sure! Get up if you want." He closed his eyes. "Uh, Kirby?" "Yeah?" "You're hugging me. It might help if you would stop hugging me." He let her go and looked embarrassed. "Oh, uh, I'm sorry." She reached into her backpack and brought out some food. "We forgot about food last night." She pointed out, listening to Kirby's growling stomach. "I guess I didn't notice it when you and I were, uh, cuddling. For warmth." Kiibii rolled her eyes. "Yes, as friends. It's not like it'll kill you." They ate and drank a small ration and waited. They both knew help was on its way. They both took turns looking out the cave entrance for signs of the ship. While it was Kirby's turn, he began to feel sick. He sat down hard and continued looking around. Kiibii ran up to him. "What's the matter?" She asked. "I don't feel too well." She felt his forehead. "Kirby, you're burning up!" He groaned.
Kiibii grabbed her radio. "Alert! This is Kiibii and Kirby! We have seperated from the others! Kirby is sick! Please respond!" She heard static, but soon heard a reply, "Kiibii, this is Meta Knight. Is Kirby awake?" Kiibii pressed the button, "Yes. He says he feels bad and he's hot. We are in a cave (as helpful that is)." Meta Knight replied, "Is he just hot or does he feel hot from the inside?" kiibii looked at Kirby, "Do you feel hot or hot from the inside?" "Inside." She pressed the button again, "He says he's hot from the inside." A reply came soon after, "I just forwarded your coordinates to the mothership. Stay where you are! Do not move!" "10-4...right?" Kirby nodded. "Yeah, that's right." She put the radio back into the backpack and sat by Kirby. "Try not to get me sick." He chuckled. "I'll try not to." They sat for hours together, listening for the slightest of voice and praying help would arrive soon. Their prayers were answered. They both saw scouts yelling their names. Kiibii stood up and yelled, "We're over here!"
The group of scouts all ran up together towards them. "Kiibii, are you alright?" She shook her head. "I think you should be more worried about Kirby. He's burning up." One of the scouts took the water bottle from Kirby's backpack and handed it to him. "You need to drink. You look dehydrated." He began to gulp the drink when it was pulled away from him. "You're just gonna upset your stomach if you do that." The leader of the group went up to Kiibii. "They are sending down ropes-there they are." Seven ropes fell from the sky. The scouts grabbed on the the ropes while Kiibii helped Kirby up. They walked up to the ropes and grabbed on. When they were brought up to the ship, a stretcher was brought out. They helped Kirby up on the stretcher and the nurse started rolling him away. Kiibii went after them.
